Maria das Dores Correia é licenciada e mestre em Sociologia pela Universidade de Évora. É doutorada em Filosofia da Educação pela mesma instituição, onde defendeu a tese "Cidade Educadora, a cidade desejada ou um modo de habitar". É membro do CIDEHUS (Centro Interdisciplinar de História, Culturas e Sociedade). Desempenha funções técnicas em Municípios portugueses.
