Maria Cristina Vieira de Freitas é Doutora e Mestre em Ciência da Informação. É Professora Auxiliar do Departamento de Filosofia, Comunicação e Informação da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra, Diretora do Arquivo da Universidade e do Centro de Documentação 25 de Abril (UC). É investigadora do Centro de Estudos Interdisciplinares - CEIS20, membro da International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO) - Capítulo Ibérico, do Grupo de Peritos em Arquivos da Asociación de los Archiveros Latino-Americanos (ALA) e do Conselho Internacional de Arquivos (CIA).
