Maria Antonieta Costa nasceu em Vila Nova de Famalicão, em 1954. Com um mestrado em História e Cultura Medievais, tem dedicado a sua vida ao ensino e à investigação.
É autora dos romances O Segredo de Afonso III, A Sétima Profecia, A Epopeia do Eterno Navegador, D. Sancho I, o Herdeiro do Reino, A Maldição de D. Afonso II, A Herança de D. Dinis, D. Afonso IV, o Bravo e A Confissão de Judas.
