Margaruda Calafate Ribeiro é investigadora-coordenadora do Centro de Estudos Sociais da Universidade de Coimbra e responsável pela Cátedra Eduardo Lourenço, da Universidade de Bolonha / Camões, com Roberto Vecchi. Em 2015 recebeu uma bolsa Consolidator Grant, do Conselho Europeu de Investigação, com o projeto «Memoirs – Filhos de Império e Pós-Memórias Europeias», que atualmente coordena. Das suas diversas publicações, destacam-se os livros de autor Uma História de Regressos: Império, Guerra Colonial e Pós-colonialismo (2004) e África no Feminino: as mulheres portuguesas e a Guerra Colonial (2007). Coorganizou, com Roberto Vecchi, Antologia da Memória Poética da Guerra Colonial (2011) e Do Colonialismo como Nosso Impensado (2014), Geometrias da Memória: Configurações Pós-Coloniais (2016), com António Sousa Ribeiro, e Heranças Pós-Coloniais nas Literaturas de Língua Portuguesa (2019), com Phillip Rothwell.
