Born in 1254 in Venice, Marco Polo set out at the age of 17, accompanied by his father Niccolò and uncle Matteo, to reach the East, which was, for the Western imagination, the great fascination, the land of mystery, of the marvelous and of unseen richness. The round trip Venice / Beijing and the stay lasted 24 years. He was 41 when he returned.
