Marcel Mauss

Marcel Mauss (1872–1950) was a French ethnologist and sociologist. He became famous for his significant contributions to the study and development of sociology. He began his career as a professor in 1902 and, in 1925, founded the Institute of Ethnology at the University of Paris, the year in which he published... Essay on the Gift, his most important work. Mauss also dedicated himself to the study of magical arts.
