Manuela Mota Ribeiro nasceu em 1970, na cidade do Porto. Formou-se em Medicina na Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto no ano de 1994. Especializou-se em Medicina Física e de Reabilitação em 2002 (Serviço de Medicina Física e de Reabilitação do Hospital de S. João). Tendo dedicado a sua vida profissional à atividade médica e ao ensino universitário, foi diretora da Clínica Pedagógica da Universidade Fernando Pessoa, no ano de 2006, e assistente de Anatomia Clínica da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto entre 2006 e 2010. Atualmente, dedica-se quase em exclusivo à escrita.
