Manuel Ricardo Miranda nasceu no Monte Estoril (Cascais) em 1943. Licenciou-se em Economia pela Universidade do Porto. Ao longo da sua vida profissional trabalhou em várias empresas nas áreas de consultoria e gestão. Após a reforma, dedicou-se à ficção histórica, tendo publicado em 2008 o romance Ginga, Rainha de Angola. Este é o seu segundo romance.
