Manuel M. Sousa

Manuel Mário Sousa é médico de família. Nasceu em 1955, em Madalena, Vila Nova de Gaia, e exerce no Serviço Nacional de Saúde desde há mais de 42 anos. Com uma atividade clínica que se centrou em particular nas regiões de Santa Maria da Feira, Vila Nova de Gaia e Espinho, o autor teve ainda experiências profissionais em Guimarães, Ribeira de Pena, Castelo de Paiva e Cinfães do Douro. A sua prática, centrada na Medicina Geral e Familiar, estende-se à área específica da Tuberculose e ao estudo da relação médico-doente baseado na metodologia Balint. Foi Presidente da Associação Portuguesa de Grupos Balint (APGB) entre 2014 e 2019 e Chairman do 21.º Congresso Mundial Balint (Porto, 2019). Atualmente exerce funções de Presidente do Conselho Clínico do Agrupamento de Centros de Saúde do Grande-Porto VIII (Espinho/Gaia), é médico no Centro de Diagnóstico Pneumológico de Vila Nova de Gaia, sendo ainda membro da Comissão Científica da APGB e editor-chefe da Revista Portuguesa Balint.
