Manuel Forjaz nasceu em Moçambique, em agosto de 1963. Economista pela Universidade Católica Portuguesa, trabalhou na área de marketing da Lever, foi diretor-geral da Bertrand e CEO da Medipress. Em 1997, tornou-se empresário e foi inovador na oferta de serviços de cliente-mistério em Portugal. Fez parte da Direção da Associação Nacional de Jovens Empresários e ajudou a dinamizar uma série de iniciativas ligadas ao empreendedorismo empresarial e também, sob a forma de voluntariado, ao empreendedorismo social. Foi fundador do projeto Pais Protetores, do Instituto do Empreendorismo Social, lançou o TedxOPorto e tornou-se um orador de relevo. Em 2010, foi-lhe detetado um nódulo no pulmão que se revelou cancerígeno e lutou desde essa data contra a doença. Morreu em Lisboa, onde vivia, em abril de 2014.
