Manuel Américo Gonçalves da Silva

O autor nasceu no Porto em 1942 onde estudou na Escola Primária, no Liceu D Manuel I e na Universidade terminando o curso em 1965 na FEUP. Com bolsa Fulbright doutorou-se nos Estados Unidos da América, onde leccionou e foi chamado para serviço militarobrigatório que cumpriu em Angola de Agosto de 1970 a 1974. Trabalhou como engenheiro nos EUA, em Angola, no Brasil e em Portugal e assumiu a cátedra de engenharia de estruturas na Universidade Nova de Lisboa até 2012.

Casado com Zenaide Silva, brasileira, baiana, com três filhos nascidos em Houston, em Luanda eno Rio de Janeiro, mantem fortes ligações com o Brasil e Angola países em que criou numerosas amizades.
