Lydie Salvayre nascida em 1946, filha de pai andaluz e de mãe catalã, refugiados em França desde fevereiro de 1939, Lydie Salvayre passou a infância em Auterive, perto de Toulouse.
Depois de uma licenciatura em Literatura Moderna na Universidade de Toulouse, estudou Medicina na Faculdade de Toulouse e realizou, em seguida, o internato em Psiquiatria. Torna-se pedopsiquiatra e, durante 15 anos, é directora do Centro de Saúde de Bagnolet.
Lydie Salvayre é autora de vinte livros traduzidos em inúmero países, alguns com adaptações teatrais. Vencedora de inúmeros prémios literários, com o Prémio Goncourt de 2014 atinge o auge da sua carreira.
