Luísa Franco nasceu na vila da Calheta, na ilha da Madeira, em 1953.
Depois de terminar os estudos secundários, foi para Coimbra, em cuja universidade se licenciou em Românicas.
Após os estudos, decide recuperar a casa que herdou dos avós, em Madalena do Pico, nos Açores, onde lecionou no ensino básico e secundário durante mais de 30 anos. Nunca se casou, nem se lhe conheceram namorados.
Morreu a 15 de Abril de 2012, no dia em que se cumpriam os 100 anos da tragédia do Titanic.
