Luís Neves de Carvalho
Luis Manuel Teixeira Neves de Carvalho was born in Mirandela in 1946.
He graduated in Medicine from Coimbra and holds a diploma from the National School of Public Health, where he is a specialist in Public Health.
She got married in August 1974 and found her "safe haven" in this beautiful city of Viseu, where she then settled.
He held several professional positions, including Director of the Health Center and Health Authority in S. Pedro do Sul, President of the ARS Viseu 1985/1998, Coordinator of Occupational Health for the District of Viseu, and President of the Board of Directors of the S. Teotónio Hospital in two periods: 1988/1996 and 2002/2003.
He holds a qualification in Medical Hydrology, awarded by the Order of Physicians (he was a doctor at the Felgueira Thermal Baths for 10 years) and is currently part of the medical team at the A.M.P. of the S. Mateus Health Center.
He was President of the Municipal Chamber of S. Pedro do Sul for two consecutive terms, 1985/1989 and 1989/2003.
During his school years, from 1958 to 1969, he played professional football, representing Sport Club de Mirandela, Grupo Desportivo de Chaves, and Clube de Futebol União de Coimbra.
In 1969 he was called up for compulsory military service and, from the beginning of the Militia Officers Course (COM), he was selected as a future Company Commander. As a militia second lieutenant, he was in Cabinda-Angola in 1970/71 (Command Internship in an operational zone) and was later mobilized in Guinea as Commander of the 3544th Hunter Company, based in the east in Buruntuma (1972/1974), with the rank of militia captain.
He retired in 2005 as Head of the Public Health Service.
After Medicine, his inclination and passion turned to painting; the fascination with colors, forms, some precise, others abstract, constitute the aesthetic and playful complement to his dedication to Public Health.
