Luís Melo Campos nasceu em Lisboa em 1961. Doutorou-se em sociologia no ISCTE-IULl em 2007. Docente de sociologia na Universidade de Évora (desde 2009), no ISCTE-IUL (1996-2005) e na Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (1989-2001) e Investigador do CIES-ISCTE-IUL Desde 1989 desenvolveu investigação sociológica e publicou trabalho nas áreas da família, classes sociais, mercado de trabalho e desenvolvimento local. Mais recentemente, tem-se dedicado ao campo musical: disposições, identidades e práticas de consumidores e de músicos.
