Luís Freitas é licenciado em Engenharia Mecânica e mestre em Mecatrónica pela Universidade do Minho. Atualmente, exerce funções como investigador no Centro de Investigação e Desenvolvimento MEtRICs da mesma instituição, tendo também desempenhado funções no setor privado nas áreas de Automação e Projeto. É professor convidado do Departamento de Engenharia Mecânica da Universidade do Minho, lecionando nas áreas de Automação e Mecatrónica. É ainda sócio fundador da empresa E4M, dedicada ao desenvolvimento de projetos na área da Automação e Mecatrónica.
