Luis Fernando Verissimo

Writer and journalist, Luis Fernando Verissimo is one of the most popular and prestigious Brazilian columnists. Son of Erico Verissimo, one of the greatest names in Portuguese-language literature, Luis Fernando Verissimo was born in Porto Alegre in 1936. At the age of 16, he moved to the USA, where he learned to play the saxophone, a habit he cultivates to this day. He writes regularly for the most important newspapers and magazines in Brazil and has a weekly column in Expresso. Among the distinctions and awards received are the Chico Mendes Resistance Medal, the Journalistic Impartiality Award, the Intellectual of the Year award in 1997, and the Prix Deux Oceans, Biarritz, 2004. He is the author of more than 60 books, including unforgettable books such as "The Club of Angels," "The Lies Men Tell," "Comedies to Read at School," "The Flying Table," "Sex in the Head," and "The Best of the Comedies of Private Life," which Dom Quixote is very proud to publish in Portugal.
