Lone Theils foi, durante anos, correspondente em Londres dos jornais dinamarqueses Berlingske Tidende e Politiken. Durante os dezasseis anos que viveu em Londres, trabalhou também para a televisão e para a rádio nacional da Dinamarca. Atualmente, e desde que voltou para o seu país, em 2016, escreve artigos para a revista online POV International e dedica-se inteiramente à escrita.
O seu primeiro romance, A Última Travessia, que foi um bestseller imediato na Dinamarca e será publicado em mais catorze países, foi inspirado numa história verídica. Algumas fotografias de jovens desconhecidas, tiradas na Estação Central de Copenhaga, apareceram misteriosamente nas mãos de um assassino em série americano.
