Lindsey Davis nasceu em Birmingham, Reino Unido, e estudou Literatura Inglesa em Oxford.
Os seus romances policiais passados na Antiguidade Clássica granjearam-lhe fama mundial e diversos prémios literários, nomeadamente o Crimewriters’ Association Dagger, o Ellis Peters Historical Dagger e o Sherlock Award. Em 2009, a cidade de Saragoça atribuiu-lhe o Prémio internacional pela sua carreira de escritora histórica. Graças à notoriedade que Roma ganhou com a sua obra, a cidade honrou-a com o Premio Colosseo, em 2010.
Em 2011 foi distinguida com o prémio de carreira Cartier Diamond Dagger pela Crimewriters’ Association.
