Jornalista e escritora, Leonor Xavier nasceu em Lisboa em 1943 onde também viria a falecer no final de 2021. Licenciada em Filologia Românica pela Universidade de Lisboa, viveu no Brasil entre 1975 e 1987, onde foi correspondente do Diário de Notícias no Rio de Janeiro. Iniciou-se no romance com Ponte-Aérea, seguindo-se O Ano da Travessia e Botafogo. Biógrafa de Maria Barroso e de Raul Solnado, é autora do livro de crónicas Colorido a Preto e Branco, da autobiografia Casas Contadas (Prémio Máxima de Literatura 2010), da narrativa Uma Viagem das Arábias, dos livros de entrevistas Peregrinação e Portugueses do Brasil & Brasileiros de Portugal. Na Temas e Debates publicou Portugal - Tempo de Paixão, Rui Patrício – A Vida Conta-se Inteira, Doze Mulheres e Um Almoço de Natal, Passageiro Clandestino (Prémio Frei Bernardo Domingues 2016) e Há Laranjeiras em Atenas.
