Nascido na Argentina, em 1937, Lázaro Covadlo refugiou-se em Espanha em 1975, após o golpe militar, e aí reside hoje, perto de Sitges. Começando a publicar algo tarde, é a partir dos anos 90 que começa a dar nas vistas com títulos como Agujeros negros [Buracos Negros], Remington Rand, Conversación con el monstruo, La casa de Patrick Childers e Animalitos de Dios. Com a novela Criaturas da noite, que teve a sua primeira edição portuguesa na editora Livros de Areia, o autor conquistou o prémio Café Gijón em 2004.
