Kazuichi Hanawa

Kazuichi Hanawa nasceu em 1947 e começou a trabalhar cedo com ilustrações, mas, após ser influenciado por Yoshiharu Tsuge, começou a desenhar mangá. As suas primeiras obras foram no estilo Eroguro, e histórias ambientadas no período medieval japonês, geralmente em revistas alternativas. É preso em 1995 por posse de armas e, ao sair, começa a pôr no papel o que viveu durante este período, resultando no mangá "Na Prisão". O sucesso deste mangá projecta o nome de Hanawa para o mundo todo e rende um filme, realizado por Yoichi Sai. Suas obras mais famosas são Na Prisão e Antes da Prisão.
