Kazuaki Takano graduated with a degree in film studies from Los Angeles City College and worked for many years as a screenwriter in Japan. Extinction This is her first work to be translated abroad, and she has been awarded the Yamada Futaro Award and the Mystery Writers of Japan Award for Best Novel, which annually recognizes the best crime novel in Japan. She was also nominated for the Naoki Prize.
