Kathy Hirsh-Pasek é licenciada em Psicologia Educacional, é professora catedrática no Departamento de Psicologia da Temple University e investigadora principal na Brookings Institution. A sua pesquisa debruça-se sobre o desenvolvimento da linguagem precoce e da alfabetização, bem como o papel do jogo na aprendizagem. Em colaboração com Roberta Michnick Golinkoff, é autora de 12 livros e centenas de publicações.
