Kate Furnivall
Kate Furnivall was born in Wales. Her mother, who spent her childhood between Russia, China, and India, discovered early on that the world around us is very volatile, and that what truly matters is what we carry in our minds and hearts. These are the values that the author explores in [her book/book/etc.]. The Russian Concubine.
The author studied English in London, UK, and worked in publishing for several years. She then moved into advertising, where she met her husband. She has two children and lives in an old country house, devoting herself entirely to writing. When she lost her mother in 2000, Kate decided to write a book inspired by her story. The novel contains fictional characters, but Kate used many memories her mother confided in her in recounting the events of the novel – particularly those about two Russian refugees, trapped in a Chinese colony, penniless, at the beginning of the 20th century.
