Karin Sagner estudou História de Arte e Filologia Germânica em Munique e em Paris e fez o doutoramento sobre Claude Monet. Começou por trabalhar em Munique, nas coleções públicas de quadros da Baviera. Hoje escreve e é conselheira de arte. Publicou vários livros sobre a sua área de especialização, a arte francesa e alemã dos séculos XIX e XX, entre os quais o bestseller Claude Monet. Ein Fest für die Augen e a primeira monografia alemã (2009) sobre Gustave Caillebotte. Trabalha para diversos museus e galerias na qualidade de conselheira.
