Julie Yip-Williams faleceu em março de 2018 de cancro do cólon, cinco anos após o diagnóstico.
Nasceu no Vietname, em 1976, precisamente no final da guerra com os Estados Unidos, e cresceu na Califórnia, tendo-se licenciado em Direito em Harvard.
Tinha 42 anos quando morreu, e vivia em Nova Iorque com o seu marido Josh e as duas filhas, Mia e Isabelle.
