Julián Carrón nasceu em 1950 em Navaconcejo (Espanha). Sacerdote ordenado em 1975, foi professor na Universidade Complutense de Madrid e na École Biblique em Jerusalém. Em 2004, mudou-se para Milão, convocado pelo P. Giussani para compartilhar com ele a responsabilidade de liderar o movimento de Comunhão e Libertação. Em 2005, a Diaconia Central nomeou-o presidente da Fraternidade CL. É professor de Teologia na Universidade Católica do Sagrado Coração de Milão.
