Jul
Jul was born in 1974 on the outskirts of Paris. After completing his studies, he teaches Chinese history at the university. However, he quickly moves away from his "first life" and becomes a designer. He began by publishing his drawings in the Nouvelle République des Pyrénées, then in the Nouvel Observateur and, later, in the Dépêche du Midi and Marianne. In 2000, he joined the Charlie Hebdo team. In addition to Charlie Hebdo, Jul currently draws for publications such as Échos, Huma, Lire, Philosophie Magazine or Fluide Glacial... The publication of his first comic in 2005 marks a turning point: Il faut tuer José Bové, an incursion into the world of alterglobalism, is a commercial success! Her second album, published the following year, addresses the clash of civilizations, through the intimate diary of Mrs. Bin Laden and the Oedipal escapades of George W. Bush: La Croisade s'amuse knows the same success as the previous book! In 2007, Le Guide du Moutard, a fierce and hard-hitting satire of our society, received the Goscinny Prize. In 2009, Jul began his first series, Silex and the City, a family saga that includes a relentless critique of our daily lives and which has proved to be a huge publishing success.
