Diretor das relações internacionais e professor de finanças na Universidade da Cidade de Macau. Foi diretor da ISCTE Business School e pró-reitor para Relações Internacionais e Empreendedorismo na ISCTE-IUL. Cofundou o AUDAX-ISCTE, um centro associado focado no empreendedorismo e negócios familiares, e a BGI, uma aceleradora de novas empresas. Também foi vice-presidente da Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. Fora de Portugal, lecionou e prestou consultoria na China, Angola, Moçambique, Cabo Verde, Brasil e EUA. As suas publicações estão focadas no financiamento e internacionalização de start-ups e pequenas e médias empresas. É também coautor de diversas publicações sobre o valor económico da língua portuguesa.
