Josep Maria Esquirol é professor de Filosofia da Universidade de Barcelona, onde dirige o grupo de investigação Aporia. É autor de numerosos estudos sobre filosofia contemporânea e ministra seminários sobre esta temática em universidades de vários países. Publicou Uno mismo y los otros (2005), El respeto o la mirada atenta (2006), El respirar de los días (2009), Los filósofos contemporáneos y la técnica (2011) e La penúltima bondade (2018). A Resistência Íntima recebeu o Premio Nacional de Ensayo 2016 e o Prémio Ciutat de Barcelona de ensaio, de 2015.
