José Luís D'Almeida holds a degree in Educational Sciences from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCE-UP). He obtained his master's degree from the same faculty and a PhD in Social Work from the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS) of the University of Porto.
She is currently a professor in the undergraduate and master's programs in Social Work, she was vice-director of the Master's program in Social Work, and is a tenured researcher at the Center for Transdisciplinary Studies for Development (CETRAD) at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro.
He is a founding member of the European Social Work Research Association.
