José Ignacio de la Torre é licenciado em História Antiga e Medieval pela Universidade de Valladolid, onde tem trabalhado como investigador. Tem ainda colaborado em trabalhos de investigação com a Universidade do Porto. Publicou mais de 30 artigos de divulgação histórica sobre a Idade Média, período em que se especializou. É autor de diversos livros sobre esta temática, designadamente Breve Historia de la Inquisición.
