José Carlos Soares Machado

José Carlos Soares Machado, born in Lisbon in 1954, is a lawyer and senior partner at the Rebelo de Sousa and Associates Society. He was President of the Lisbon District Council of the Bar Association and a member of its General and Superior Councils. He was a visiting professor at the Faculty of Law of the Nova University of Lisbon and President of the Litigation Lawyers Circle. Having always had a passion for History, he founded the Portuguese Genealogy Association in 1984, of which he is currently President. He is also the director of the magazine Roots & Memories, one of the most renowned periodicals in Family History. He is also an academic member of Académie International de Généalogie, from the Foundation for Medieval Genealogy, full member of the South Minas Gerais Genealogical Institute, and corresponding member of the Portuguese Institute of Heraldry.
