José Carlos de Vasconcelos, jornalista, advogado e poeta, nasceu em Freamunde, em 1940, mas viveu sempre na Póvoa de Varzim. Na Póvoa, entre outras actividades, começou no jornalismo, na intervenção cultural e publicou o seu primeiro livro de poesia. Pertence ou pertenceu a diversos organismos e conselhos. Tem 23 livros publicados. É director do Jornal de Letras.
