José Augusto Pacheco

Holding a degree in History, he obtained his doctorate in Educational Sciences, specializing in Curriculum Development, from the University of Minho in 1993. Currently, he combines the direction of the Doctoral Program in Educational Sciences at the Institute of Education of the same University with teaching and research. He is a Full Professor in the Department of Curriculum Studies and Educational Technology and a researcher at the Research Centre in Education. He was president of the Portuguese Society of Educational Sciences, a member of the National Education Council, and editor of [publication name missing]. Journal of Curriculum StudiesHe has a wide range of scientific output – including articles in national and international journals and books – and has won awards, such as the Rui Grácio Prize. He has coordinated several national and international research projects and supervised numerous master's dissertations and doctoral theses. He has collaborated with higher education institutions in Portuguese-speaking countries, especially Brazil, Cape Verde, Mozambique, and East Timor.
He is a member of the Advisory Council of the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture and presides over the Municipal Assembly of Paredes de Coura, where he was born.
