Jorge Monteiro Alves foi jornalista, editor de Política Internacional no "Jornal de Notícias", embora a sua verdadeira paixão fosse a reportagem de guerra. Cobriu os conflitos da Krajina, da Bósnia e do Kosovo. Foi o primeiro português a entrar na cidade cercada de Sarajevo no período mais quente dos combates, em 1992. É autor dos livros "Nunca passes além do Drina", "A generala", "O meu Deus é melhor que o teu" e "Carmencita".
