Jorge Guimarães

Jorge Guimarães was born in Coimbra in 1970.
She graduated in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC), where she also completed a master's degree in Biodiversity and Plant Biotechnology.
He was a primary and secondary school teacher.
He worked as a biologist and researcher on several projects for the Botany Department of FCTUC, including: Project Digital Library of Botany, within which he produced biographical summaries of the botanists: Avelar Brotero, Júlio Henriques, Luís Carrisso, Adolfo Möller, Joaquim de Mariz, Aurélio Quintanilha, Domenico Vandelli; and Project Algoteca de Coimbra (ACOI): a unique collection of microalgae, within which he carried out research work with microalgae in what is considered the largest microalgae collection in the world.
He produced the biographical text about Júlio Henriques, in co-authorship with Prof. Dr. Jorge Paiva, for the book. Cabeceiras de Basto: History and Heritage.
