Jorge Ávila de Lima é Professor Associado com Agregação, na Universidade dos Açores. Especialista nas áreas da sociologia da escola e das redes sociais em educação, é director da revista Arquipélago - Ciências da Educação e membro do conselho editorial de diversas revistas científicas estrangeiras, designadamente, European Educational Research Journal, Teachers & Teaching e Journal of Educational Change. É autor de diversas obras e artigos em língua portuguesa e inglesa, destacando-se As culturas colaborativas nas escolas: estruturas, processos e conteúdos. Recentemente, foi Visiting Scholar no Boston College, Estados Unidos da América, onde colaborou com Andy Hargreaves.
