John Ford

John Ford (Ilsington, Devon, 1586 – 1640) was an English playwright, poet, and actor, one of the leading and most original representatives of Elizabethan theatre.
He was born in the village of Ilsington (Devonshire) and baptized on April 17, 1586 (according to the Julian calendar). Little is known of his life until his entry into the Exeter College from Oxford, on May 26, 1601. He effectively began his artistic career by writing some poems of an elegiac tone (Fames Memorial - Fame Memorial - and Triumphant Honor - Triumphant Honor), in 1606 dedicated to the death of Charles Blount, Earl of Devon, who had been his patron during his career.
