John Ford

John Ford (Ilsington, Devon, 1586 — 1640) foi um dramaturgo, poeta e ator inglês, um dos principais e mais originais representantes do chamado teatro isabelino.
Nasceu no povoado de Ilsington (Devonshire) sendo batizado em 17 de abril de 1586 (data segundo o calendário juliano). Pouco se sabe de sua vida até ao seu ingresso no Exeter College de Oxford, em 26 de maio de 1601. Iniciou efetivamente a sua carreira artística ao escrever alguns poemas de tom elegíaco (Fames Memorial - Memorial da Fama - e Honour Triumphant - Honra Triunfante), em 1606 dedicados à morte de Charles Blount, conde de Devon, que fora seu patrocinador durante sua carreira.
