Jody Houser decidiu que queria ser escritora aos oito anos de idade e daí para a frente nunca vacilou. Para o bem ou para o mal, também nunca ninguém lhe sugeriu que parasse. Licenciou-se em Escrita Criativa no Emerson College, em Boston, com uma tese sobre Escrita de Argumentos, tendo-lhe sido atribuída a Rod Parker Fellowship for Playwriting. A partir de 2006 começou a fazer experiências com webcomics, sendo a criadora da série webcomic de sucesso Cupcake POW!, lançada em 2010. Já publicou Faith (Valiant Comics), Max Ride: Ultimate Flight e Agent May (Marvel), e Orphan Black (IDW). Tem ainda contribuído, como autora, para muitas antologias, entre as quais Avengers: No More Bullying, Vertigo CMYK: Magenta, e as duas Womanthology.
