João P. Santos é professor de Matemática no Instituto Superior Técnico e membro do Centro de Análise Matemática, Geometria e Sistemas Dinâmicos nesse instituto, onde faz investigação em topologia e geometria. Licenciou-se em Eng. Física Tecnológica em 1995 no Instituto Superior Técnico, onde concluiu também, em 1996, o mestrado em Matemática Aplicada. Doutorou-se em Matemática na Stanford University em 2002, após o que foi C.L.E. Moore instructor no Massachusetts Institute of Techonology até 2005. Tem experiência de vários anos do ensino de Cálculo, tanto em Portugal como nos Estados Unidos.
