O P. João Paulo Pimentel nasceu em Lisboa, a 28 de maio de 1959. Licenciou-se em Medicina pela Universidade Autónoma de Madrid (1982). Sacerdote da Prelatura do Opus Dei, foi ordenado pelo Papa João Paulo II, em Roma, a 21 de junho de 1987, depois de fazer aí os estudos de Teologia, no Colégio Romano da Santa Cruz.

Doutorou-se em Filosofia pela Universidade Pontifícia da Santa Cruz, com uma tese sobre Aristóteles. Desenvolveu o seu ministério na Prelatura do Opus Dei, ligado sobretudo a Residências Universitárias.

É pároco de Telheiras (Lisboa), desde setembro de 2016. Nas redes sociais ligadas à paróquia, podem encontrar-se várias intervenções do autor. Publicou diversas obras de carácter espiritual.
