João Aguiar Coelho

He was born in Penela da Beira, municipality of Penedono, district of Viseu.
He holds a PhD in Social Sciences (UFP), a Master's degree in European Studies (UM), a Diploma in Hospital Administration (ENSP), and a Bachelor's degree in Law (FDUC).
He is the author of several books, pioneering in Portugal, on the issue of preventing psychosocial risks in the workplace. Occupational Health Psychology and Symbolic Interactionism: An Introduction to Occupational Health Psychology. Prevention of Psychosocial Risks at Work. (1st edition and reissue, UFP Editions, 2008); Preventive Management of Psychosocial Risks in Hospitals (UFP Editions, 2010); Hospital Manager and Prevention of Psychosocial Risks at Work (Placebo Editora, 2011) Occupational Health Psychologist: A New Career Path (1st edition, published by UFP Editions, in 2013) and Symbolic Interactionism. The Symbol as an instrument of psychosocial mediation. (1st and 2nd editions, Lema D’Origem Editions, 2020).
There is ongoing research into the role of symbols in cognition and human behavior.
He worked for 40 years as a Hospital Administrator (career role) in various hospitals and as a university professor for 24 years.
