João Gobern nasceu em 1960. Estudou Direito até chegar aos jornais e revistas. Escreveu sobre música regularmente durante quase 40 anos consecutivos. Mantém uma rubrica diária (Zona VIP) e um programa semanal (Bairro Latino) na Antena 1. Integra, desde 2012, o painel de comentadores do programa Trio d’Ataque (RTP3).
Escreveu Quando A TV Parava o País, que se seguiu a Pano Para Mangas e Boca Doce. Tem mais livros em carteira.
