João Fonseca nasceu (1988) e cresceu numa pequena aldeia do Baixo Mondego, perto da Figueira da Foz, Portugal. Licenciou-se em História pela Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa. Em 2016, já no interior da ilha de Santiago, Tarrafal, iniciou a sua aventura no mundo da literatura infantojuvenil e escreveu as primeiras páginas do projeto literário «Estórias do Meu País Inventado». Em 2018, publicou As Tartarugas Também Choram. Em 2019, publicou Burro Carga-d’água, a segunda estória das cincos que integram este projeto.
