No curto período em que fez crítica de música foi autor do programa radiofónico na RDP FM Estéreo «A Idade do Rock» (1977-1980), para o qual reuniu materiais que fazem grande parte desta antologia. Tem formação jurídica (Lisboa) e post-graduação em Altos Estudos Europeus (Bruges). Entre outras actividades, foi advogado, deputado, diplomata, empresário, fundador e dirigente de uma cooperativa de animação cultural e de ONGs e professor universitário.
