João Barreiros é licenciado em Filosofia e ex-professor do ensino Secundário, tendo nascido a 31 de julho de 1952. Participou na feitura do Grande Ciclo do Filme de FC de 1984 patrocinado pela Cinemateca Portuguesa e Fundação Gulbenkian, e dirigiu duas efémeras coleções para as Editoras Gradiva (Col. Contacto) e Clássica (Col. Limites). É autor de Terrarium (edição de 1996, com Luís Filipe Silva), O Caçador de Brinquedos e Outras Histórias, A Verdadeira Invasão dos Marcianos, as novelas Disney No Céu entre os Dumbos e A Bondade dos Estranhos e a monumental coletânea de contos Se Acordar antes de Morrer. Participou nas antologias organizadas pela Saída de Emergência, Os Anos de Ouro da Pulp Fiction Portuguesa e A Sombra sobre Lisboa, até acabar por organizar, para a mesma editora, a antologia de retrofuturismo, Lisboa no Ano 2000.
