Jin Xing

Jin Xing nasceu homem em 1967 na cidade de Shenyang, no Norte da China. Coronel do exército vermelho, Jin Xing toma-se a estrela do corpo de dança do exército. É o primeiro cidadão chinês a cgnseguir uma bolsa para estudar dança moderna nos Estados Unidos.
Depois de trabalhar durante sete anos nas melhores companhias de dança modernas, em Nova Iorque, Romo/ e Bruxelas, Jin Xing regressou ao seu país. E em 1995 fez uma operação de mudança de sexo. Foi a primeira operação de mudança de sexo a conseguir o acordo oficial na China.
Desde aí, ela vive em Shanghai, onde trabalha como coreógrafa, dirigindo a sua própria companhia, a Jin Xing Dance Theatre, desde 2000. Vive com três crianças, que adoptou.
Jin Xing é a figura mais emblemática do mundo da dança de Shanghai e a primeira coreógrafa a ser oficialmente reconhecida depois de meio século de comunismo na China.
